The Government of Buenos Aires is reinforcing nighttime security with the addition of new vehicles and more police in the most active areas of the Argentine capital.
In recent hours, city authorities announced the purchase of 120 new patrol cars, motorcycles, and quadricycles, along with an increase in nighttime patrols, especially in areas with bars, nightclubs, and dining corridors, using real-time data from the 'Crime Map'.
'The deployment covers the entire city, but with a special focus on high-activity nighttime zones, where we have increased patrols by 50%,' said Head of Government Jorge Macri during the presentation of the vehicles on Avenida Adolfo Berro and Sarmiento in Palermo. He added, 'We have a firm conviction: the porteño night, which so distinguishes us, deserves to be lived with freedom and tranquility. We want a lot of police on the streets.'
'It is important that people know we continue to invest in security. It is also very important that neighbors file complaints because that allows us to update the Crime Map, install cameras, and reinforce staff where it is most needed,' stated the Head of Government.
Minister of Security Horacio Giménez assured: 'The reinforcement of nighttime patrol is another measure for the City to increase police presence on the streets and thus give our neighbors more security: this reinforcement allows us to maximize prevention, increase the frequency of mobile patrols, and reduce police response times in any emergency.'
Also present was the United States Ambassador, Peter Lamelas, who was passing by and stopped to greet and speak with the Head of Government.
Macri confirmed that in 2026, investment in security with more technology, patrol cars, motorcycles, and bulletproof vests will be maintained, as stipulated in the budget that was approved last week by the Legislature.
Thus, just as during the day emphasis is placed on access points, train stations, and transfer centers, at night it is on recreational areas.
